It’s still a bit buggy, but great fun! When selecting the large chassis it does look rather strange though...

I went with the 360 in the large chassis. I spent a lot of virtual money...

I want to know why these are so much cheaper in the uk than in the states. It can’t be importing. 40, 000 in the uk to 60, 000 us, accounting for currency conversion.

It is slightly buggy. Then again, they usually work with hammers and spanners .

Certification is a lot easier (i.e. cheaper ) in the UK, I think.

They look slightly weird in real life as well, but the configurator is exaggerating.

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

The small chassis with lowered floor is probably the sweet spot , but it is seriously tight .

not 20,000 cheaper. kit cars don’t need to be U.S. certified.

Kinja'd!!! BvdV - The Dutch Engineer > Out, but with a W - has found the answer

Kinja'd!!!1

That does look pretty weird indeed , but the configurator completely messes it up with the offset of the rear wheels.

Yeah, they look pretty tight. But, t hen again you wouldn’ t buy a Caterham for space ;p

Are they actually classified as a kit car? (I honestly haven’t got a clue)

Looking at Ariel, there’s a similar price difference between the UK and the US, so at least there’s a trend.

If its import tariffs I'm going to be pissed. But yeah, it can't pass us crash safety so its imported as a kit only.

Well, having it built by the importer instead of the factory will be innately more expensive, but p art of it will be mark-ups, I’m sure.

Kinja'd!!! My bird IS the word > Out, but with a W - has found the answer

It’s not though, kit to kit is more expensive. I don’t want someone else to build the car for me.

Would you be able to buy the kit in the UK and have it shipped to the US? I'm sure there's some sort of broker available for less than the importer's mark-up?

I am going to try (whenever I am in that financial situation obviously ) but I think there is some difficulty with the EPA and paperwork. Figure it’s still worth a shot.
